One Long Day

Hmm.

It's been a long day for me.. it's the third and final day of the 2006 Freshmam Orientation for NYP School Of Design, admittedly, they (both the OGLs and freshmen) did a great job, and I even managed to fill in the role as a judge for the Grand Finale event! Well done, people!

That said, I've been fighting this feeling of depression which has been welling inside of me. It's a feeling that confuses me because I don't know why I'm feeling like this, and well I've been rather grouchy as of late, I guess.

I need a ray of sunshine! Fookin' lousy weather outside combined with the boredom of the indoors... only thing which I can look forward to is a dinner this coming thursday with a couple of acquaintances (I performed for their presentation a matter of two months ago or so) and a possible jam session with Colin, Ken and Rully during the coming weekend.

I'm looking forward especially towards the Jam session because we've barely played together more than three times, and I'd love to get back in touch with them... loosen out these old, rusty joints and start rocking out once more. I'd love to just crank up the amp, scream into the mic and pick out a screaming solo... that's what makes me who I am.

I thought those girls had forgotten about me, but what can I say? They have been having a very busy tiem with their projects, and I guess that this expereince proves that no kind deed goes unrepaid, even though I did kinda give up and moved on.

And it's also this blasted schedule I have in school which has hampered my mood... 10 hours' worth of project work punctuated by small breaks for lunch or a small munch with my fellow year 3s.

Come to think of it, I wanna bitch about my workspace: although I technically got the largest workstation in the whole IDS (Industrial Design Studio), it's also the most exposed workstation in the whoel place... anybody who walked behind me can see what I'm doing with absolute ease. Now call me a paranoid piece of junk, but I prefer to be very private when I work.

It's a small shock for me, from which I'm still reeling... I suddenly realise that I'm now in the final stages (of my Poly course), and that some action needs to be taken in order to be right on top of the game. So far, I'm only coming in fourth, and that's not good enough for me. I'm going to fight tooth and nail, fight to the bitter end with everything I've got. I'm going to get that scholarship (if there's one in the first place lol).

One more thing... I've just changed my tagboard, so for all my fellow bloggers and friends out there, don't be shy! Tag even if you think I'm a crazy bugger. Tag even though you feel like grabbing my neck and shaking me up and down.. because I still love you guys (okay I'll cut the cheese down now), and you guys mean alot to me. I mean it. Every single one of you.

Had a small chat with Char before going to the grand finale.. hehe she kinda wanted to kick me when I told her I went to Italy for 9 days (for those who wanna kick me, that honour is only reserved for one very interesting individual, who loves to kick butt ;p... so dream on, the rest of you). Over a small snack of M&Ms and a Pepsi, we had a small catch-up, and I eventually brought her as my date to the Grand Finale!

Hahaha.. I wish... nah she wasn't my date or anything. She's much to cool as a pal to be my date.. maybe next time I'll just bring a witless bimbo just to shake things up. Just kidding.

Rock n' Roll!!! II

Hmm.

Today I had my first audition in months, and in a nutshell it went really well.

A month or two back, my uncle had contracted me to perform for about 20 minutes at his company's dinner function. I had managed to come into contact with the entertainment organiser people, who in turn worked with me for my performance, and subsequently saw me perform in stage as well.

Thereupon with my meeting with the supervisor of the entertainment crew, whose name is Joshua, we exchanged numbers and email addresses, in the hope that I could get some gigs from his company.

Last week, Joshua called me after so long, and apparently his lady boss was very interested in hearing me in person. We set up a meeting today so that at long last, I could meet the people at Into E, and they could also have an impression upon themselves what I can do, and how I sing, compared to a description of what my style was.

So I went there today, took a trip on the MRT first to have my hair cut at City Hall, before taking the Boon Lay train to Redhill Station. A 10-minute walk soon brought me to the office on the 8th floor of Redhill Forum, tucked away silently on Jalan Kilang Timor, just off Jalan Bukit Merah.

I had managed to prepare myself when one of the office staff showed me into a small room slightly crammed with a round glass-top table, coupled with a hodge-podge of assorted dinner chairs. Pulling out my guitar, harp-rack, harps, tuner, and tuning up, I got ready within 5 minutes, just as a guy walked into the room and introduced himself as Lawrence, an Operations Manager.

A small chat ensued, before the Lady Boss, Theresa came in.

I know I haven't been out much, but whew, that lady boss sure wore a plunging neckline. I mean, if anybody wanted to show off their anatomy, no one else could have done a better job.

The lady's dress sense aside, she was very nice and when she asked me to sing a song, I decided to go with a song with could both exhibit my vocal abilities, guitar playing ability, and also harp-playing skills.

I guess the applause from the small crowd in that small room after i had finished off 'You'd Better be Home Soon' by Crowded House signalled that I had got it right. Overall, I would have rated my small performance a 7.5 out of 10 due to the fact that halfway through the song, I suddenly realised that I forgot where to throw in a section for a harp solo lol... and also I couldn't sing as well as I could, if I had stood up.

Anyways, I feel much better after getting the confidence of these people... I feel much better.

The best of what I want to be

Hmm.

I haven't managed to be who I am recently
because it's getting tough to be the best of me
projects, issues that boggle my mind down
leaving me sprawled across the cold, dank ground

emerging from an holiday that didn't feel like one
people tell me that I deserve to have more fun
truth is, I don't feel that deserving at all
I feel like a target to be shot up on the wall

I need back the things which made me whole
so come back my friends, my precious safety fold
I may appear to be strong, but its just wrong
for me to keep depending on you for this long

I don't dare ask for your constant reliability
I don't even deserve your unflinching loyalty
all I ask is an occasional hello, when you're free
so that I can be the best of what I want to be

That Feeling Once Again

Hmm.

Confusion. That's all that pervades my mind today.

I don't know where I stand.

What am I supposed to do to make you smile?

Does anything I say mean anything to you?

Maybe this is what I have become... shallow and undeserving.

Now I understand: I'm not worthy at all.

black is the colour

Hmm.

I love this traditional Irish love song... it makes me want to cry everytime I hear it because it is just so melancholy...

Black is the colour of my true love's hair.
Her lips are like a rose so fair.
She's got the sweetest smile and the gentlest hands.
I love the ground whereon she stands.

I love my love and well she knows.
I love the ground whereon she goes.
And how I whish the day would come
when she and I can be as one.

I go to the Clyde and mourn and weep
satisfied I never will sleep.
I 'll write her a letter, just a few short lines
And suffer death a thousand times.

I love this song, and the only version I have is the one Gerry gave to me in his CD.. so maybe I'll try and learn it?

The Day The Music Revived

Hmm.

This morning's Nestle presentation went relatively well... my presentation lasted no more than 3 minutes, and I managed to get very constructive and positive feedback.

Now I was gone for 9 days in Italy, and when I came back my left hand was rather stiff when it came to playing guitar. I decided to warm up the day before... but I was still pretty stunted.

This afternoon I managed to get back in form, and I'm glad that I've managed to do so... I've also managed to get my tone right after so long. That Bass EQ I bought for $50 a couple of weeks back sure enhanced my guitar sound incredibly... the difference and the improvement in the tone can be rcognised immediately when the EQ is activated...

I think I sounded really good today... and I bought new strings! I'm gonna fit them to my guitars over the weekend... and hopefully I can have fresh axes next week.

I like guitars with fresh strings!

Then I'll go

Hmm.

Poetic time again, eh?

As I sit here reflecting on the past,
I realise that things go by so fast.
Where, my friends will fate lead me to?

I wonder what next year will bring,
when I'll ever strum again and sing.
When to myself will I ever be true?

I dread that fateful day of departure,
when I walk down the path of my future.
And I'd probably never see you all again.

That said, each moment I will cherish more,
I'll try my best to heal old wounds and sores.
Then I can go and release myself from the pain.
